Most E-Commerce professionals agree that if your organization does not have its own domain name, then you will lose a lot of business. Having your own domain name is one of the best ways to show that you mean business and that your here to stay.
While most people or business will just go with someone they see on TV like Go-Daddy, this is not the best place in our opinions. Go-Daddy like others, suck you in with a low upfront price, then are usually a higher price on the renewal. In addition, (again like GoDaddy) they will send you all kinds of upsells and while they don't directly lie outright, they don't tell you the whole truth. Other things to watch out for is fly-by-night companies, they are here today, gone tommorrow (just reselling other companies services).
We always recommend talking to a webmaster who offers to sit down with you at no charge and go through some of the cons of some companies. Most people think its easy (because the tv ads say it is), but they don't go into the "details of a lot of the process or the ramifications of following blindly".
